OVERVIEW

Base Camp Connect is issuing this advisory to inform customers that Proxmox VE 8.x is approaching end of life in August 2026. Proxmox VE 8.x is based on Debian 12 “Bookworm” and will no longer receive bug fixes or security updates once it reaches end of life. The software will remain operational, and existing features will continue to function.

AFFECTED PRODUCTS

This advisory applies to Base Camp Connect systems using Proxmox VE 8.x, including the following product lines:

  • BCC-TACTICAL systems manufactured between January 31st, 2024 and February 11, 2025
  • BCC-MICRO systems manufactured between August 11, 2023 and January 27, 2025
  • BCC-NOMAD systems manufactured between December 13, 2024 and December 30, 2024

      IMPACT

      Once Proxmox VE 8.x reaches end of life, the following will apply:

      • No further bug fixes or software patches will be provided.
      • No further security updates will be provided.
      • The software will remain operational, and existing functionality will continue to be available.

            RISKS

            Continuing to operate Proxmox VE 8.x after its end-of-life date may increase exposure to:

            • Cybersecurity risks: Connecting the system to an unsecured LAN network may increase its exposure to malicious activity and cybersecurity incidents.
            • Compliance concerns, depending on your organization’s security and operational requirements.

                RECOMMENDED ACTION

                Base Camp Connect recommends planning a migration to Proxmox VE 9.x, which is based on Debian 13 “Trixie.”

                To minimize operational risk, customers should coordinate the migration with the Base Camp Connect Technical Support team. We do not recommend performing this migration independently, as system-specific factors may require technical validation and support.
